Virtual Tasting // Rose, Reisling, and Rogue
Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Carneros District – a winery that began making wine long before the region earned its reputation for producing the great Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays of Carneros today. The roots of Bouchaine go back to long before Prohibition, when it was first owned by the remarkably-named Mr. Boon Fly, who grew grapes and fruit beginning in the late 1880’s. The property was bought by Johnny Garetto in 1929, and sold in 1951 to Beringer, who used it as a blending and production facility for almost 30 years. It wasn’t until Gerret and Tatiana Copeland became the sole proprietors that the winery and vineyards were completely renovated and over 100 acres of estate vineyards were added. Today, Bouchaine creates superior wines that capture the elegance of Burgundy and the exuberance and authenticity of Carneros.

2017 BOUCHAINE BRUT ROSE
Fog, wind, and the cold night time temperatures of this unique geographical area lend a distinctive regional identity to our Brut Rosé allowing for bright flavors, lip-smacking acidity and a crisp finish. This bubbly beverage is produced using the Champagne Method (or Méthode Champenois for our Francophile friends). First there is primary fermentation, followed by some blending magic, then a secondary fermentation in bottle to give us those oh-so-delicate bubbles. After some time in the bottle, we finish the process with disgorgement of the yeast and a dosage (a supersecret mixture) to finesse the wine to its final form.
2019 BOUCHAINE LAS BRISAS RIESLING
The Las Brisas Riesling is the liquid version of a walk through a Carneros vineyard in Spring. Bursting with aromas of white flowers, fresh peach and tangy apple notes. With time in the glass, the nose opens to beeswax, lavender and honey. The tangy complex palate shows bright acidity, drawing out flavors of lemongrass and Asian pear with a long graceful finish. Riesling is among the rarest of grape varieties planted in Carneros. We purchased a scant 1-acre block in the Las Brisas Vineyard which lies on a gentle, west-facing slope in the heart of Carneros. Much like our Estate vineyard, the Las Brisas vineyard is situated adjacent to the San Pablo Bay and is often covered in fog until noon or later when the cool breeze blows in from the Pacific Ocean.
2 AWARD WINNING ROGUE CREAMERY CHEESES
Inspired by a sense of place, Rogue Creamery draws on the bounty and flavors of Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley to create organic, hand-crafted blue cheese, cheddar cheese and TouVelle. The certified organic whole milk we use to make our internationally-acclaimed, gourmet blue cheese comes from our dairy along the banks of the rugged and scenic Rogue River.
*Please note, reservations are required by October 21 to ensure the wines and cheeses are received in time for the tasting.
